Reviews
Far from as good as you would expect. After releasing such a great album as “City Life” you would expect at least something decent to follow, this is not the case when it comes to “Survival of the freshest”. The production is far from good and you kind of get the feeling that they can’t decide whether to rap or sing, and unfortunately choose to explore their singing abilities much more. The only song worth mentioning is “Friend or Foe” which uses the hook from “Halloween”. Submitted by G.M.M.
This recording was one of the highlights of my teenage years. I had it on cassette and listened to it frequently until it was stolen in college. Each song was brilliantly done for it's time period and was full of classics such as: Girl Talk, Starving Marvin, (the wonderfully penned) Share My World, and (the thought provoking) Colorblind World. I loved the fact that they sang a lot and they were the prelude to the (often horrible) JA Rule and other Rappers who 'sing'. This album was a school girls dream. It was about love, the world social conscience, sassiness and the all out fun that we all remember growing up with. When the streetlights came on and it was time to come in. I loved to be in with The Boogie Boys, Share My World playing on my record player. Submitted by Jesserlyn S. Rogers
